Latest HERE update adds rural transit directions

HERE maps already provide transit directions for more than 1,300 global destinations, but in a bid to make public transit even easier, HERE has added updates for many smaller towns, rural areas and connections between cities.

For instance, while the previous update for the US ushered in transit details for the Amtrak rail system, the focus this time has been on increasing rural coverage across the country. Virginia and California are two states where we did so more extensively.

We also significantly increased the coverage in Germany, filling in additional local information for the Rhein-Neckar region.

The emphasis on rural areas doesn’t mean HERE has abandoned larger updates either, with the stunning Czech city of Prague and full coverage around the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, both getting transit directions for the first time.

You can check out additional locations that have received extended transit coverage below.

In Europe: Perpignan in the Pyrénées-Orientales in France; Lecce, Bari, Catania and Reggio Calabria in Italy; Menorca and regional/long distance buses of Alsa Cataluña in Spain.

In South America: Blumenau, Indaial, Itajaí, Brusque, Jaraguá do Sul, Marília, Bauru in Brazil.

If you use HERE WeGo, HERE transit directions for the new areas are automatically added to your app’s capabilities, so you don’t need to do anything.
