To learn more about the IoT App Challenge and understand the idea behind it, we interviewed Thorsten Leiduck, Global VP ISV Ecosystem at SAP.
“The IoT is connecting information, people and things, but the real value is in the ability for companies to reimagine their business models and processes, customer experience and human behavior,” he told us.
“This effects various areas of the enterprise like product design and value added services. For example, you can create real-time supply chain and responsive manufacturing plants, enable preventative maintenance and extend business network services.”
“SAP HANA Cloud Platform provides the agility layer for partners and developers to rapidly build innovative IoT applications which extend the customer’s core business systems. “
As the IoT continues to mature, Thorsten cites three stages of progress. The start, of course, is connecting the various devices and expanding business processes accordingly. The second stage will transform and automate businesses leading to solution enrichment and operational excellence. The third stage results in the reimagining of business models and creation of value added products and services leveraging IoT capabilities.
Essential to all of this are location services, which are key to building and consuming IoT applications. “HERE has a unique portfolio with a global reach across automotive, enterprise and consumer, with an agnostic experience across devices. It's a perfect example of innovation and one that complements SAP's product portfolio,” says Thorsten.
To that end, the goal of the app challenge is a solution, which is a game changing use case for the IoT and one that delivers superior customer value.
Thorsten says, “There is no limit on the creativity.”
So, now you have the chance to join the challenge and develop the next IoT application that will change the face of business, leveraging SAP HANA Cloud Platform and the location capabilities of HERE.
To better understand how to quickly develop, deploy and manage IoT applications using the SAP HANA Cloud Platform and APIs from the HERE Platform for Business, we are kicking off a series of joint webinars in December. During the first web seminar, experts from both companies will explore:
