The HERE for Android Beta program is rolling forward rapidly. In today’s new release, we introduce an additional feature many of you have been asking for: the ability to share a route.
It’s been possible to share places since the app launched. Likewise, you’ve been able to share your position and ETA using Glympse. Today, we’re happy to roll out the missing piece of the puzzle: sharing your full route, whether it’s by car, walking or on public transit.
There are lots of reasons you might want to do this, not least to give someone directions to get to a place. Or, maybe you want to share a record of your trip on social networks. Either way, it’s very easy.
Here’s how it works.
When you’ve planned a route, scroll up to show the route details.
At the bottom of the screen, you’ll now see a Share button. Tap this, and you can choose what method you want to share with – email, Messenger and all the rest. Then select the person or people you want to share the route with, depending on your chosen method.
Your friend or colleague receives the directions and they can click the link in the message to open the route in the HERE app on their own phone or on here.com if they don’t have it installed.
To get this and other new features at the bleeding edge of our product development, you need to join the HERE for Android Beta program.
If you’re a member, head to the Play Store on your device and update the app to start sharing today.
2) Visit this link on your Android device and click on Become a Tester. Please note, you must join the HERE Beta Program group first (from step 1) before you can become a tester.
3) Open the Play Store app on your mobile device and install or update the HERE app with the beta version by choosing Update or Install. Note that the beta version will replace the regular HERE app on your device. All instructions and some troubleshooting tips can be found on the HERE Beta Program group welcome page.
4) Use the app as you normally would and tell us what you think or report problems using the Feedback option in the HERE menu of the app or email us directly at email@example.com.
Do leave your feedback through the app. It helps our team enormously to learn about your experience and means the public version will be even better.
NB: The update is live but is currently propagating its way around the Internet. If it is not yet available for you, try again in a few hours.
