Go to the front of the line: try updated beta.here.com

Beta.here.com has been live for a little while now, but the site has just got a whole lot better. As part of the latest update, we've listened to your comments and feedback, and the freshest version of beta.here.com offers more features than ever before. Read on for a preview of what you can expect.

Beta.here.com lets you sign in with your HERE account, and syncs with HERE for Android to give you access to mapping, your Collections and loads more. When it’s ready, beta.here.com will migrate into here.com, but we're still working hard to make sure it offers all the features you folks want, and works flawlessly before the big change. And we’re giving it an upgrade now, so you can have the chance to try it out and let us know what you think.

What you can expect

As one of the biggest changes, beta.here.com gets a new menu bar, bringing Places, Collections and Traffic to the fore, so they’re easier to find and re-find whenever you use the site.

When you tap on Traffic, you’ll see some more major updates. The comprehensive traffic view boasts a new feature called Jam Factor, which highlights just how the traffic is in specific areas, rating the traffic between free flowing and stopped, and helping you to better plan your journeys.

Beta.here.com also has a lot more to offer when it comes to finding your way; search for directions, and along with being presented with a list of maneuvers, you’ll be able to click any of them to automatically zoom into that specific point in the journey. So if you’re worried about getting lost, it’s now easier than ever to find out where you should be going.

We received even more feedback when it comes to the map view itself, with loads of HERE users requesting the ability to see more of the map when searching for places and just exploring through panning. Understanding this, we’ve made the information panel on the left smaller, making it easy to see more of the map when you need it most.

Collections has also received an overhaul, boasting an attractive new look, the ability to access your Collections from the top menu bar, and a feature that offers automatic selection of cover photos.

Throw in updates for nearby places when looking up points of interest (POI), and the new version of beta.here.com really does have a lot to offer.

So try out the latest beta.here.com, let us know how you get on, and help us to create the perfect mapping platform. We'd love to hear your comments.
