Glympse is brilliant for sharing your location with friends, making it easy to let them know where you’re going, how long you’ll be there for and even letting them track you en route. And you can now use Glympse with HERE for Android – read on to find out all you need to know.

We’ve already shown you how to get started with HERE for Android, how to use it for car navigation or how to get transit directions, but there are loads of other cool things you can do with the app. Glympse is a great example, and it’s perfectly integrated into the app so you can let people know exactly where you’re at and when you’ll arrive to your destination.

To get started, either type a location into the search bar at the top of the app, or tap and hold somewhere on the map. Instead of clicking the directions button – as you would for turn-by-turn navigation, instead pick the place you want from the list at the bottom, and then tap the ‘Share’ button.

From here you can either share using the majority of social networks, messages or emails, or tap the ‘Share using Glympse’ option.

You’ll then be able to enter different information, including the duration you’re staying somewhere for and a personal message. You can also add individual recipients for your Glympse update: just click on the ‘With’ box and then pick the person you want to share details with, or tap a social network you want to share on.

Once you’ve done that, click ‘Send’ to update your Glympse status. The update will then appear on where you’ve shared it, so friends and family will be able to click the link to see exactly where you’re going, any of the other details you added, and the progress you’re making along the way.

And once the time you’ve entered has counted down to zero, the link will expire, so people will no longer be able to see where you are or what you’re up to.
